Domestic assistance refers to help with the everyday household tasks you would normally handle yourself — but cannot manage while recovering from injury, illness or surgery. It is not just cleaning; it is maintaining a safe, functional home environment that supports your recovery.
Common domestic assistance tasks include vacuuming, mopping and dusting; bathroom and kitchen cleaning; laundry (washing, drying, folding, ironing); changing bed linen; grocery shopping or accompanying to shops; and basic meal preparation.
Domestic assistance does not usually cover deep cleaning services, gardening beyond basic lawn mowing, home maintenance or repairs, or tasks primarily related to other household members who are not the supported client. Your care plan will specify exactly what is covered.
Domestic assistance can be funded through iCare (workers compensation), private health insurance, TAC, hospital discharge plans, or paid privately. The WSRC team can advise on what your specific funding covers and help maximise your support package.
Simply make an enquiry via our website or call 02 8111 5085. We will confirm your funding situation, match you with a suitable support worker in your area, and have services in place — often within 48 hours of approval.
